Join Team KBF as our new Leadership Gifts Officer

The Leadership Gifts Officer serves as a member of the Kelly Brush Foundation (KBF) Development Team to steward, renew and acquire top-level individual, corporate, and foundation donors with the goal of significantly increasing financial support of the KBF. The Leadership Gift Officer reports to the Sr. Director of Development and Operations and has a dotted line to the Executive Director as a fundraising key partner.

This role identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of lead donors and top-level prospects for gifts which range from $5,000 to significantly higher. The role is also responsible for sustaining and improving new and existing fundraising practices including but not limited to: prospecting and creating leads for new donors, including corporate partners, event sponsorship, and individual donors; managing existing donors; planning campaigns; legacy giving; and stewardship.

The ideal candidate should be creative, resilient, adaptable and confident in creating meaningful connections with donors and the KBF mission. Having 1:1 individual fundraising experience is essential as well as the proven ability to close five- and six-figure gifts. The candidate should have excellent communication and attention-to-detail skills.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a fluid portfolio of approximately 300 donors and prospects, with the expectation of 20 moves meetings per month via in-house or videoconference meetings, donor events, and/or significant travel for face-to-face meetings.
  • Craft cultivation and solicitation strategies and proposals for prospects, in consultation with Sr. Director of Development & Operations, Executive Director, and other organizational leaders.
  • Research and identify planned giving and major gift prospects, and plan strategies for engagement and cultivation.
  • Recommend and facilitate strategic meetings for donors with KBF leadership as needed, e.g., ED, Founder, and KBF Board of Directors
  • Provide input and support for Development and Marketing staff on events, appeals, special campaigns, and content for digital, print, and in-house communications and publications
  • Collaborate with Development and Marketing staff in efforts to make maximal strategic use of KBF database for purposes of lead prospecting, cultivation, campaign planning and gift solicitation
  • Provide support and direction for cultivation and stewardship events
  • Assist with other projects, activities, and events as requested by the Sr. Director of Development and Operations and the ED
  • Practice active portfolio management and document in contact reports. Track development actions and next steps in organization CRM (currently DonorPerfect)
  • Provide advice and counsel to colleagues
  • Provide a high degree of discretion and strong ability to represent the KBF, engaging in meaningful dialogue with prospects and donors.
  • Prior experience in grant writing and/or volunteer management is a plus.

Minimal Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience in fundraising environment, with frontline fundraising experience
  • Fluency with standard office software, including Word, Excel, email
  • Familiarity with DonorPerfect or other donor database systems
  • Ability to travel frequently (30-40%)

Job Location

The position can reside in Burlington, Vermont or remote, with a preference to candidates located near our engaged KBF communities of Boston, MA, New York, Ny, Colorado, Utah, or California. Employees will be expected to be available during Eastern Time zone hours.

Compensation

This is a full time, salaried position. Compensation is $80,000+ to commensurate with experience and skills, with a year-end bonus opportunity based on performance and achieving fundraising goals.
